About the show
Adam Rapp and Justin Levine's stage adaptation of S. E. Hinton's 1967 novel — by way of Francis Ford Coppola's 1983 film — won the 2024 Tony Award for Best Musical. Danya Taymor's production has played the Bernard B. Jacobs since the spring of 2024. The Greasers, the Socs, the rumble, and a final reckoning told with a folk-Americana score and a rain-soaked second-act fight that is the most talked-about staging on Broadway.
Content advisory: Recommended ages 12+. Violence (knife and fist fights, gun use), strong language, themes of poverty, class, and loss. The rain sequence is intense.
