Neil Simon Theatre

The Neil Simon Theatre is a 1,467-seat Broadway venue operated by the Nederlander Organization, renamed in 1983 to honor the playwright Neil Simon. It has been the home of MJ the Musical since 2022, hosting the Michael Jackson catalog show that pairs spectacle-scale staging with a relatively narrow auditorium footprint.

For MJ specifically, the room’s intimate width is an asset — the choreography reads at full intensity from almost every seat in the orchestra and mezzanine. The trade-off, as with any production-specific staging, is that side-orchestra seats can lose key dance moments that are angled to the centre. Rear orchestra under the mezzanine overhang loses some of the upper-tier visual elements; rear mezzanine, despite the height, holds the choreography geometry well.
