Winter Garden Theatre

The Winter Garden Theatre is a 1,526-seat Shubert Organization venue with a particularly notable long-run history — Cats held the Broadway record from this stage for almost two decades. The room is large enough for spectacle musicals and shaped traditionally: an orchestra, a single mezzanine, and proportions that lean wide rather than deep.

For productions with significant aerial or upstage staging, sight lines vary substantially from the side orchestra and the rear mezzanine. Centre orchestra and centre mezzanine are reliable; side seats and rear mezz are where careful research pays off. The Winter Garden hosted Death of a Salesman (2026, closed August 9), a non-musical production that used the room’s scale very differently from the spectacle musicals it’s known for — for a play that size, the rear orchestra was a perfectly reasonable seat to take.
