About the show
Rebecca Frecknall's London production transferred to Broadway in spring 2024 with a full architectural reconfiguration of the August Wilson into the Kit Kat Club — audience seating on cabaret tables around a thrust stage. Kander and Ebb's 1966 musical reframed as immersive theatre. The Broadway production closed September 21, 2025 (Billy Porter withdrew due to a serious illness; the closing was moved up from the originally-announced October 19). The West End production at the Playhouse Theatre in London continues.
