About the show

Disney's stage adaptation of its 1994 animated film opened in 1997 and became one of the highest-grossing Broadway productions of all time. Director Julie Taymor reimagined the African savannah with full-body puppetry, life-sized animal heads, and a Pride Rock entrance that still earns gasps. The score by Elton John and Tim Rice, expanded with songs by Lebo M and Hans Zimmer, anchors a show that draws families from around the world week in and week out.

Content advisory: Family-friendly, recommended ages 6+. Mufasa's death and the stampede sequence can frighten very young children; the bright costumes and music keep most kids engaged.
